Montessori Magnet Program

Virginia Shuman Young Elementary School is a Public Montessori School serving Pre-K to 5th-grade students since 1994. Students learn the core curriculum and the BEST standards through the use of Montessori materials and principles in conjunction with district resources. The structured, prepared environment promotes a sense of order and is organized in different areas of the curriculum: math, language arts, science, social studies, practical life, and sensorial development.

All lessons in the Montessori classroom allow students to develop a sense of order, concentration, coordination, and independence, and cover different complexity levels that will enable differentiation and follow the students' needs and abilities.
