Magnet Program

Magnet Programs are open to qualified students throughout the state of Florida. All students entering grades K-12 may apply. Students must be five years old by September 1st to enter kindergarten. All students will demonstrate good conduct. 
The School Board of Broward County is committed to providing settings for education that promote understanding of diversity, tolerance and fair play, so that the positive tenets of a democratic society are reinforced by what students experience in schools. In the Broward County Public Schools, diversity is broadly defined to include students of different genders, of different racial and ethnic backgrounds, of various socioeconomic circumstances, those who speak English as a second language, and those who have exceptional and special needs.

Kindergarten through 5th grade Montessori Magnet Program: 

Students must be at least five years old by September 1st to enter kindergarten.

Self Supported (Fee-based) Pre-Kindergarten Montessori Program

The student has to be 3 or 4 on or before September 1st of the school year for which you are applying.  There is a nonrefundable application fee of $100.00, monthly tuition is $725.00. There is NO charge for K-5 grade students.

Transportation is provided for those that live North of I-595 and more than 2 miles from the school. There is NO transportation provided for Pre-K students.

How to Apply to VSY Montessori (Grades K–5)

• 1. Get Your Child’s Student Number

Your child must have a Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) student number.

If your child is not currently enrolled in BCPS, visit any district school in person to register and receive a student number.

• 2. Log in to the Focus Parent Portal

Go to https://www.browardschools.com/focus and sign in with your Parent Portal account.

(If you don’t have an account, follow the instructions on the site to create one.)

• 3. Click on “Magnet & Reassignment”

Once logged in, select the “BCPS Magnet Program Application 2026-27” tab to begin the application.

• 4. Choose VSY Montessori

Follow the prompts to select Virginia Shuman Young Montessori (VSY) as your magnet school choice.

• 5. Submit Your Application

Review your information carefully, then submit the application.

Student drop off begins at 9:00, our instructional day is from 9:30-3:30. Morning care hours: 7:00– 8:50. After care hours: 3:30—6:00
